SALÒ
Live Punk Concert – “Problemzone Mensch”
Before someone else asks the question, let’s take a moment to tackle one of pop’s supposedly most controversial topics ourselves:
The music that the wonderfully anarchic Viennese electroclash troublemaker SALÒ delivers on his second album “Problemzone Mensch” – is that still punk?
No-future attitude, rebellious posturing, contrarian for the sake of it, or just: three chords, played fast with a bit of yelling? Nonsense.
The most important definition of punk remains self-empowerment.
And so, on “Problemzone Mensch,” SALÒ explores the full drama—but above all the absurdity—of human existence.
Presumption, rebellion and failure, inner struggles, love, and the abysses of being human are tackled with lightness, mockery, and the realization that, of course, SALÒ is always also singing about himself.
The result is the most diverse music of his career so far—yet at its core, still 100% SALÒ.
Neue Deutsche Welle, post-punk, and electroclash remain the key coordinates, but through his voice and the way he blends these styles, “Problemzone Mensch” goes far beyond any simple genre listing.
